“and with this I conclude this lesson”. A loud thump can be heard echoing through the classroom snapping me right out of my daydreams. Blinking a few times I see my professor walking out of the urging me on to start packing my things up. Chatting with some friends I pack up. Fishing my phone out of my pocket I check the latest bus information and of course with these evening classes I missed the last bus home from the nearest bus stop. Now I have to walk to the other side of the campus, great. Why didn’t I just bring my bike from home like the last few days. Sighing I sling my backpack over my shoulder and head to the exit.
The sun is already starting to set and it’s last rays cast a golden colour on the surrounding buildings. it’s late June and even though the sun is setting I can still feel the warmth of the sun remaining in the air. Checking my phone for the time I maybe able to pick up some snacks from the local supermarket. Luckily I still have some time to pass before the last bus leaves for the night. Slowly making my way over to the front of the store there is a soft sound coming from the alleyway on my left. Thinking I must have imagined something I take a few steps towards the store and hear the sound again. This time a little louder than the last time. Trying to identify the sound I take a few steps back towards the alleyway. What greets me there is a fluffy cat, a Manx to be precise. It’s fur soft and fluffy with a distinct pattern right under it’s rose button nose, a moustache. Gently I crouch in front of the cat and put out my hand. Making small encouraging noises and keeping my arm outstretched he comes closer. Allowing me to scratch right behind it’s fluffy ears. Apparently those scratches were right in place making the small feline purr blissfully. Slowly the cat comes closer and closer, Moustache I call him in my head.
I take my phone out of my pocket to check the time, the bus should be close to leaving now. But while I struggle fishing for a phone my bus pass falls right out of my pocket. Right in front of moustache. A quick moment of our eyes meeting in a clash of green and brown, moustache dashes forwards and snatches up my pass. Before I have even moved I see my pass with moustache disappear into the alleyway. Without a moment of hesitation I shift into fifth gear and bound after the feline. Our chase has begun. Corner after corner I turn at high speed chasing after moustache. I’m starting go get out of breath but I need that bus pass to get home, walking is not an option. Eventually I see moustache enter a dark run down building. I follow him deep into the warehouse. Then out of the blue a hand on my shoulder. I turn around screaming and take a few steps back. There behind me is a man dressed in a black pinstriped suit complete with his bushy moustache and a top hat. He takes my hand in a vice grip and says “now I finally have you my dear”. He sounds like a purring cat. “don’t think you can run or hide. I have been watching you for a while”. Grinning he pulls me aside into a cage. “who is the stray now?”
